Celebrate Cricket in Japan at the 2023 Embassy Cup
The biggest cricket tournament in Japan is making its return to the Sano International Cricket Ground on October 28 for a weekend of competition and celebration. Witness eight teams, each representing their culture, battle it out all weekend at the Embassy Cup. Don’t miss out on this action-packed weekend of cricket, concerts, and a chance to win prizes in a raffle. Attendance is free, but premium seating is available for purchase here. Enjoy food from each participating culture, and raise money for children’s charities by participating in the raffle.
This year marks the sixth Embassy Cup, an annual celebration of the growing popularity of cricket in Japan brought to you by the Japan Cricket Association (JCA). Established in 1984, the JCA has made it their mission to “enrich lives and broaden horizons by building bridges between people and communities within Japan” through cricket. The Embassy Cup highlights the diversity of cricket through the many teams participating. Teams representing Australia, Bangladesh, Great Britain, India, Pakistan, Nepal, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka will participate in the event. Naoki Miyaji, JCA CEO, said, “We are very pleased that so many people from overseas will be participating in the Embassy Cup. Cricket is an indispensable part of life for many people who immigrate to Japan from overseas. We hope that they will be able to enjoy cricket in their spare time and that they will be able to enjoy their life in Japan through cricket.”

2023 Embassy Cup Prize Raffle
On Saturday, October 28, the Embassy Cup will hold a prize raffle to raise money for two select charities—Yoshimizu Kodomo Shokudo – Chokotto, a local children’s charity based near the cricket ground that provides meals at a very low price for children once a month, and Mirai No Mori, a not-for-profit organization that creates life-changing outdoor programs for abused, neglected, and orphaned youths in Japan. Stop by Saturday and support a good cause by entering the raffle.
