Where to View Tokyo’s Winter Illuminations

Tokyo transforms into a winter wonderland each holiday season, with dazzling Christmas lights illuminating the cityscape. Keyakizaka Illumination “SNOW & BLUE“

To welcome the arrival of winter in Roppongi, the Keyakizaka “SNOW & BLUE” illumination will adorn the 400-meter-long Keyakizaka street with approximately 800,000 LED Lights. The scene is sure to be a magical one, encasing visitors in a sparkling, silver-and-white world. Enjoy the unique Christmas experience that only Roppongi Hills can offer, and which continues to be loved even after more than 20 years since its opening.

66 Plaza Illumination “Luminous Bouquet“

This illumination of approximately 200,000 LED bulbs resembles bouquets of zelkova trees. The visual spectacle is enhanced even further by the overlapping of various lights. Echoing last year, 66 Plaza will be illuminated in the image of a colorful bouquet. Get ready to enjoy a vibrant tapestry of lights woven with bursts of colors!

Marunouchi Illumination 

The yearly illumination of Marunouchi’s Nakadori Avenue will start in mid-November and stay lit until February. Around 1.2 million fairy lights will cover the area and give it a special frosty charm. Experience the magic of winter with sparkling lights adorning the trees, enchanting illuminated sculptures decorating the sidewalks, an ice-skating rink to glide across and a cozy miniature merry-go-round.

Shinjuku Minami Lumi Winter Illumination 

This winter, one of Tokyo’s most beloved seasonal light displays, Shinjuku Minami Lumi, will illuminate Shinjuku from mid-November through mid-February. Be captivated by the colorful lights at Shinjuku Southern Terrace, cheerful penguins welcoming you at Suica Penguin Square and beautifully adorned Christmas trees at Shinjuku Takashimaya Times Square, Shinjuku MAYNDS Tower and Shinjuku Miraina Tower.

Tokyo Midtown Christmas

Every year, the event has something new added or improved. This year, visitors can look forward to a fresh art installation featuring drifting snow, soap bubbles and vibrant lighting effects. The regular trees will be aglow as always, and the cherished Christmas tree will make its return. With the expanded space, the display will dazzle with approximately 560,000 lights.

Meguro-gawa Minna no Illumination

The Meguro-gawa Minna no Illumination is a beloved winter light display along Tokyo’s Meguro River. About 350,000 pink LED lights adorn the renowned sakura trees, creating a beautiful scene that resembles cherry blossoms in bloom after dark. This enchanting illumination stretches approximately 2.2 km, spanning the path between Gotanda and Osaki Stations.

Tokyo Snow Dome City

Tokyo Dome City celebrates its 20th Winter Illumination with the theme “SNOW DOME.” The entire venue will sparkle with white lights, as pure as freshly fallen snow, and feature captivating displays inspired by snow and snow domes. Come enjoy a wonderland of lights and festive beauty at Tokyo Dome City this season!

Odaiba Winter Illumination

A special winter illumination event at Decks Tokyo Beach will sparkle through the festive season. From Christmas to Valentine’s Day, Odaiba will be transformed with enchanting displays. The seaside terrace on the hotel’s 3rd floor will feature the art spot “ODAIBA,” adorned in trademark blue hues inspired by the nearby sea.

Yebisu Garden Place

The Baccarat Eternal Lights at Yebisu Garden Place is a standout display this season, showcasing a magnificent 10-meter Christmas tree, an impressive crystal chandelier and thousands of sparkling lights. After a brief hiatus, the Christmas market is also making a return, inspired by traditional European markets and set across both squares of Yebisu Garden Place.

Omotesando Illumination

The Omotesando Illumination is an elegant annual spectacle, transforming Omotesando Avenue into a light-filled promenade of just about 1 km. The trees lining the avenue between Harajuku and Omotesando stations are wrapped in sparkling LED bulbs, creating a stunning view along nearly the entire street.

Roppongi Hills Christmas Market

Each December, Roppongi becomes a magical holiday destination with its annual Christmas Market. Located in Roppongi Hills, this market is inspired by the renowned Stuttgart Christmas market in Germany. Though the illuminations are smaller in scale, visitors will be immersed in a charming atmosphere filled with tastefully decorated stalls, twinkling lights and the delightful scents of mulled wine and seasonal spices.
