Red Bull Japan Premiers Hip-Hop X Cross Genre Music Series
Popular hip-hop platform Red Bull Mic is premiering Red Bull IN-YO!, a new performance series that explores what happens when hip-hop meets other musical genres.
With hip-hop as the creative foundation of the series, each episode brings together prominent hip-hop artists and influential musicians from other genres. Together, they create original collaborations or reinterpret existing songs, expanding the boundaries of contemporary Japanese hip-hop.

Ep 1 Lineup: The YAO Project
Uniting top artists at the forefront of their respective genres, the first episode features YAO, a special project capturing the creativity, experimentation, and exchange that arise when distinct musical worlds collide. The collaboration offers a rare look at how artists can leverage new perspectives to create something entirely new, bringing together:
- Awich: The Queen of Japanese hip-hop
- Chico Carlito: Acclaimed rapper
- One OK Rock: Internationally recognized rock band
- Paledusk: Fast-rising rock group

Concept and meaning of “IN-YO!”
The title Red Bull IN-YO! reflects the central idea of the series: hip-hop remains the constant force while engaging with artists from other musical worlds. The name is a play on words:
- Yin and Yang: Inspired by the traditional Japanese concept of yin and yang (陽).
- The Hip-Hop Twist: It replaces the character for yin with in (韻), which means “rhyme”—a key element of hip-hop culture.
The creative tension generated by these contrasting styles allows Red Bull IN-YO! to explore how opposites can come together to create something brand new.
