Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) is the World’s Cleanest Airport, according to Skytrax—the “Passenger’s Choice Awards”—which says that airport cleanliness has become much more important since COVID.
Three other Japanese international airports—Centrair Nagoya, Narita, and Kansai—also rank high at 5th, 6th and 7th, respectively, while Seoul Incheon (2nd) and Singapore Changi (3rd) help Asia dominate the awards. Indeed, Doha Hamad and Zurich are the only non-Asian airports in the top 10 airports known for “impeccable maintenance and hygiene standards.”
The World Airport Awards began in 1999, said Skytrax, when it launched its first global airport customer satisfaction survey. Customers vote which airport they consider the best, with more than 100 customer nationalities taking part in the 2023-2024 survey.
The full Skytrax 2025 World Airport Awards will be announced in Madrid, Spain on 9 April 2025. Skytrax says: “The awards are regarded as a quality benchmark for the world airport industry, assessing customer service and facilities across more than 500 airports. There is no entry fee or any type of payment by an airport (or other third party) to be included in the survey or awards, with the survey and awards process fully funded by Skytrax.”
