Japanese Art Auction – MEGURU – Vol. 27
Japanese Art Auction – MEGURU – Vol. 27 brings an exceptional collection of Japanese art to Kashima Arts in Kyobashi for its annual main sale. The 213 works span Japanese painting, calligraphy, prints and crafts, giving collectors and art enthusiasts a chance to explore works from celebrated artists across different periods and styles.
Among this year’s highlights are 15 works by Edo-period master Ito Jakuchu, the largest selection of his works ever presented at a MEGURU auction. Also featured is Shiko Munakata’s complete 12-print set Two Bodhisattvas and Ten Great Disciples of Shakyamuni, alongside works by other notable Japanese artists.
While bidding is available online, the free preview exhibition offers a rare chance to see the works up close at Kashima Arts before the auction closes. Pieces are displayed without glass cases where possible, letting visitors appreciate the painstaking detail in the brushwork, texture and scale. Specialists will be on hand to answer questions about the works and artists.
