Tokyo Yamathon

Tokyo Yamathon

Tokyo Yamathon returns on October 17, challenging teams to walk the full Yamanote Line loop and visit all 30 stations in under 12 hours. Organized by International Volunteer Group Japan, the event brings together outdoor exercise, teamwork and fundraising in one of Tokyo’s most recognizable charity challenges. Its community-first approach has helped make the Tokyo Yamathon story part of the city’s international volunteer scene.

This year’s event has a broader charitable focus, with community impact partners working across areas such as children’s health, education, environmental action and social support. That gives the day a stronger sense of purpose, whether you are joining with colleagues, friends or a regular walking crew.

The route takes teams through central Tokyo on foot, turning familiar stations and neighborhoods into checkpoints along a full-day urban challenge. It calls for good pacing, comfortable shoes and a sensible plan, but the spirit is simple: stay together, keep moving and finish as a team.

For companies, Yamathon offers a practical team-building opportunity with a clear social contribution. Corporate groups can take part together while supporting community-focused organizations through an established fundraising event.
