Aoba-Japan International School is a co-educational international school with no specific religious affiliation. We have a proud history of over 45 years since opening in 1976. Currently, more than 700 international students from more than 30 countries and regions study together at three school campuses in Tokyo: Aobadai, Meguro Ward (for kinder children aged 1.5 to 6 years / K2-K5), Hikarigaoka, Nerima Ward (for kinder to middle year students / K3-G9) and Honkomagome, Bunkyo Ward (for high school students / G10-G12). We also have a 100% online campus for G11-G12.
In addition to English and Japanese language and culture education, which have always been Aoba's strengths, in 2016, Aoba acquired full accreditation for the International Baccalaureate (IB) PYP (kindergarten/elementary school equivalent), MYP (middle school equivalent), and DP (high school equivalent), making it an IB World School. In addition to the IBDP, our high school also offers the Global Leadership Diploma (GLD) program, which allows students to tailor their curriculum of study to their interests. In terms of IBDP and GLD, we offer 100% online campus courses. Aoba is delivering Japan and Asia’s first-ever online IBDP pilot to high school students.
