In a major boost for tourism, the economy and employment in Japan’s poorest prefecture, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba yesterday spoke about improving infrastructure and facilities for the new Junglia theme park in northern Okinawa.
Produced by the same people behind Immersive Fort Tokyo, the islands’ first theme park will open on July 25, 2025 in the Yanbaru forest on a site about the size of 13 Tokyo Domes with attractions including a safari ride where you are attacked by dinosaurs and a hot air balloon ride through the dense forest.

Ishiba said the government strongly supported investment in tourism and that Junglia was a badly needed boost to the Okinawan economy—particularly in the northern islands—while also creating spillover benefits for other sectors and regions. Ishiba pledged to improve transport to Junglia by reviewing plans to extend a major road and enhancing infrastructure.

“Solving traffic congestion around the site will be one of our key missions,” he said of government efforts to help residents and the influx of tourists, especially from China, South Korea and Southeast Asia.
Other breathtaking rides are named Sky Phoenix (zipliner), Human Arrow, Titan’s Swing, Bungee Glider, Jungle Extremes, Sky-End Trekking, Tree-Top Trekking and Buggy Voltage.

With the theme of “Power Vacation”, food and beverage outlets include Panorama Dining and Wild Banquet. Japan Entertainment CMO Nahomi Morisaki introduced the spa and surrounding nature. Kata Corporation CEO Masahiro Morioka said: “Junglia will be the theme park to make Okinawa tourism unparalleled.”
Honorary Professor at Kansai University Katsuhiro Matsumoto estimates that some 880,000 people will visit Junglia in the next 15 years.

Tickets, priced at 6,300 yen for “domestic residents” and 8,000 yen for “general admission”, go on sale at JTB and other travel agents from January 29. Spa tickets will cost 2,400 yen and 2,800 yen, respectively.
