Do I need to speak Japanese to work out in Tokyo?
I used to think so. After contacting dozens of gyms, being told they didn’t speak English, that I would need to bring a translator to understand how the gym works, or struggling to follow along in a class, I was close to giving up.
Thankfully, I discovered that speaking Japanese isn’t essential. Hopefully, this guide helps you find an English-friendly gym in Tokyo that suits your fitness goals.
