Ryomon is an elegant yet modern cemetery in the heart of Tokyo whose origins as a Jodo (Pure Land) Buddhist temple date back centuries. It is where families and friends can pay respects to the departed, in an atmosphere of tranquility amid the hustle and bustle of the city.
Ryomon is not just a place where families and friends can connect with the departed, but a place where all are welcome.
The rooms where patrons can spend time paying respects to their loved ones are completely private, and available in both Japanese and Western styles. Ryomon is a place of prayer, as well as a space where you can relax and be at ease.
Morning, evening and other memorial services of the Jodo Buddhist sect are held in the majestic main hall on the top floor of Ryomon. As well as the regular services, you are welcome to attend any of the Jodo Buddhist events held there. In this solemn atmosphere, you can listen to sutra readings and reflect on your feelings. Please feel free to make a visit to the main hall as part of your experience at Ryomon.
We offer traditional cultural events such as sutra copying, and we plan to offer new experiences, such as cooking and flower arranging classes.
Ryomon is a seven-story building. The front entrance is located along Gaiennishi-dori. The main hall is on the top floor, the private rooms are on the third to sixth floors and a guest hall is on the second floor. Parking is located on the west side of the building, and can be accessed from the basement level.
