5. Hydrangea Viewing in Kamakura 

If you’re looking for a shorter adventure, take a day trip to Kamakura to see hydrangeas during their peak bloom season. Engaku-ji’s moss-covered grounds feature lush ajisai (hydrangea) bushes framing the temple buildings. Meigetsu-in, nicknamed Hydrangea Temple (Ajisai-dera), boasts more than 2,500 blue-tinged blossoms lining its garden pathways.

For a standout Hakone experience, ride the Hakone Tozan Railway from Hakone-Yumoto toward Gora. From mid-June through late July, you can disembark at Ohiradai Station and stroll along the Hydrangea Path beside the tracks, where thousands of blooms arch overhead in vivid purples and blues.
