Summer Holiday Kids’ Workshops

Staying in Tokyo this summer and wondering what to do with the kids? Held every year since 2006, Hills Workshop for Kids has provided children with a place to learn in the city in collaboration with tenant companies and stores in Roppongi Hills and Toranomon Hills.

This year, with the addition of the facilities and stores of Azabudai Hills, 91 programs and about 300 lectures will be offered.

The programs are full of opportunities to experience the origins of business, economics, environmental issues through food, and the career of your dreams.

In addition, Azabudai Hills offers 43 different programs, including tours where visitors can learn about urban development concepts and architecture from Mori Building’s design staff, as well as programs at the Keio University Center for Preventive Medicine, the British School in Tokyo, and other facilities that represent Azabudai Hills.

A spokesperson said: “Mori Building will continue to contribute to the development of children who will lead the future by providing learning opportunities in the Hills in collaboration with a variety of companies, including office and commercial companies.”

Learn how the economy works through card games and investment experiences: Money supports our lives, and work not only earns that money, but also creates communication with others and the outside world, enriching our lives. This year, we are offering programs from companies at the cutting edge of business, with offices in Roppongi Hills and Toranomon Hills, where you can learn how jobs are created in a workshop format, and learn about money and investment systems in a fun way through card games:

What is a Company? Relationship between Investment, Company and Society (Invesco Asset Management K.K. / Roppongi Hills). We often hear the word “company,” but what does it really mean? To find the answer to this question, let’s have fun learning together in the workshop. We will come up with various ideas to come up with a new business and share your thoughts with investors.

How many bugs can you fix? Experience a programmer’s work (Monex, Inc. / Roppongi Hills). Using the ScratchJr programming application, students will experience “working and getting paid” through the process of finding bugs, fixing them correctly, and receiving a paycheck from the client.

Make, eat, and learn through hands-on food education experience. Food is not just about satisfying hunger; it is also about tradition and culture. At this event, visitors can learn directly from food experts active in each of the Hills about techniques passed down from generation to generation, the seasonality of foods, and eating styles and manners. This year, Azabudai Hills, which opened last November and offers a variety of food experiences based on the concept of “Green & Wellness,” will also participate in the workshops.

Why not think about health and the environment through food? Nuka pickles class for parents and children (Nakaya / Azabudai Hills). Let’s learn about traditional Japanese pickles at “Nakaya,” a specialty store in Azabudai Hills Market, with your children! On the day of the event, you can also enjoy harvesting at the vegetable garden in the orchard. You will learn how to pickle using Milky Queen rice bran, and a souvenir of the bran bed to enjoy at home is included. Maintenance support after the experience is also available.

Make a plant-based energy ball (Alchemy / Azabudai Hills). Alchemy wants to enrich our bodies and our planet through nutritious and environmentally friendly food. Through energy ball making, we create opportunities to think about the dietary habits that build our bodies and provide a fun time to learn about health and environmental issues.

Experience a wide range of jobs you’ve always dreamed of. Visitors can experience the kind of work experience they have always dreamed of, including a mock trial and a sushi workshop where they can receive a lecture directly from a sushi chef from a famous restaurant. In addition, visitors can experience the real work experience that only Hills, where experts gather, can offer, such as a workshop on urban planning held by Nihon Sekkei, the company that actually designed the Toranomon Hills Mori Tower.

Experience a Mock Trial (TMI Sogo Law Office / Roppongi Hills). Students experience a mock trial (criminal) under the guidance of an attorney from TMI Associates in a mock courtroom space within the firm. The goal is to provide students with an opportunity to think about the structure and role of a trial and concepts such as law and justice, and to develop the “power to think.

Sushi making experience (Terakoya Sushisho/Azabudai Hills). Sushi chefs from the famous restaurant “Sushisho,” which is also popular overseas, will give you a direct lecture on how sushi is made, from rice preparation to fish filleting and nigiri. This hands-on learning experience is unique to “Terakoya Sushisho”, which also focuses on human resource development for sushi chefs. The sushi you make will be served at the end of the class.

Azabudai Hills

Workshops will be held by various facilities representing Azabudai Hills, a town in the spotlight. Azabudai Hills is a new urban development unlike any other in the world, based on the concept of a “plaza-like” town surrounded by greenery that connects people to each other.

The British School in Tokyo, Keio University Center for Preventive Medicine, and other leading facilities in Azabudai Hills offer a special experience that can only be had here.

Are You a Doctor of Azabudai Hills? The Making of Azabudai Hills (Mori Building Co., Ltd. / Azabudai Hills). Mori Building employees will explain the origins and characteristics of the Azabudai Hills neighborhood. After viewing the plaza from the 7th floor of Mori JP Tower, which is normally inaccessible, participants will take a tour around the town.

Let’s make a one-of-a-kind T-shirt by drawing sea creatures with parents and children!

Think about the meaning of “borderless” of TeamLab Borderless with an expert (Mori Building Digital Art Museum: Epson TeamLab Borderless / Azabudai Hills). TeamLab Borderless is a “museum without a map” that just relocated and opened in Azabudai Hills in February. Two special programs will be held this summer. Experience “art without boundaries” in the empty museum before its opening.
